Om Ozric Tentacles
Progressive Circus are super pleased to present the Scandinavian tour of OZRIC TENTACLES (UK):
This awesome cult band that many have asked for, will visit Scandinavia for the first time in 14 years!
One reason for their cult status is how the band was formed - at a 6 hour jam session at Stonehenge Free Festival in 1983, after which they named themselves Ozric Tentacles, an imaginary kind of alien breakfast cereal. The Ozrics’ rapidly built a large fan base through festival gigs and a series of five cassette releases that eventually lead to “proper” albums from 1989 and onwards until their recent 17th album – the brilliant and trippy “Lotus unfolding” (2023) which may be their best release yet. Some other brilliant albums of their discography are the trio of “Erpland” (1990), dedicated to Erp, a character who appears on many artworks of the following releases, “Strangeitude” (1991), featuring the only single “Sploosh!” that was used in a BMW advertisement and “Jurassic Shift” (1993) that reached the top 10 on the UK album charts.
Since the early days, the band has remained loyal to the creative vision of multi-instrumentalist founder Ed Wynne in which the Ozrics’ uniquely trippy soundscapes connect inspiration from various directions, like psychedelia, dub, kraut, progressive rock, ethnic Arabic music, electronic techno and virtuouso guitar soloists.
The band has gone through many line-up changes, with only Ed Wynne maintaining a constant presence, but maintain their identity and continue to tour worldwide and produce intriguing albums. The genious pair of Ozric Tentacles and Gong (whose Scandinavian tour in November is promoted by Progressive Circus) have toured together lately, and we are so happy to get them both to Scandinavia in 2024 and Brygghuset.
On stage you will see this incarnation of the Ozrics on stage: Ed Wynne (guitars and keyboards), Silas Wynne (keyboards), Vinny Shillito (bass), Pat Garvey (drums) and Saskia Maxwell (flutes and modular synth). Opening act will be space-folk band Silas & Saski, featuring Silas and Saskia of Ozric Tentacles.
Prepare to get psyched!!
